How to Choose Keydiy KD VAG MQB49 5C 5D Keys ?

One of the biggest challenges whe working with VAG MQB49 vehicles is identifying the exact remote type-whether it’s a flip key, a smart key, an older model, or a newer generation. Getting it wrong can waste time and create unnecessary complications.

With KeyDIY (KD) devices, however that distinction is no longer necessary when programming 5C and 5D keys.

Key Advantage: No Manual Pre-Generation

Unlike many other programming devices, KD equipment does not require the technician to pre-select or pre-generate a program before reading the key. During both the key reading process and dealer key generation, the KD device automatically matches the appropriate program in the background. This seamless process means the technician can focus on the job without having to manually indentify the remote type.

Supported 5C Types (including all ZB remotes)

The KD platform fully supports the following 5C remote types:

Regular ZB15-3 is not an OEM solution. DZ-ZB15-3 and DZ ZB15-4 are OEM solution remote.

For 5D keys, KD supports the following FGB remote models:

Keydiy KD-X4 Program 2021+ Ford BCM R7F701053 Key without PIN

Keydiy KD-X4 key programmer will release new Ford Immobilizer software soon-supports 2021+ Ford key programming by reading BCM module data. Keep an eye on the software upgrades.

Here is an example of adding a spare key on a 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E using KD-X4. Keydiy will do both add key and all key lost. All keys lost share the same procedure.

The same produre goes to 2021-Ford F-150, Focus, Bronco, Mondeo, EVOS etc.

BCM: R7F701053 or R7F701073

This function requires removing BMC module and back up immo data first.

The BCM is located on the passenger side of the vehicle.

Remove the BCM module

Connect the BCM and the KD-X4 MCU cable according to the wiring diagram

Connect Keydiy KD-X4 with tablet or phone via OTG connector

Go to IMMO programming function
Select KD-X4 device-Programmer function
Select Read file function
Choose Ford-BCM R7F701053 or R7F701073

Read and save BCM data

Reinstall BMC module back to vehicle and add key in car

Select IMMO programming-Ford-select by type-Keyless System-Type 35-Add key or All keys lost.

Follow KD-X4 App prompts to add a spare key.

KDYDIY KD-X4 Copy NCF29AX Series Smart Key using KD ZB71 Remote

Keydiy KD-X4 and KD-MAX update NCF29xx smart key synchronization function(read original key data to copy/add smart key) on April 17th 2026

Keydiy will read original key data for the following smart key chip types:

NCF29A1
NCF29A4
NCF29A2
NCF2953
NCF29A3
NCF2954

Device Used:
Keydiy KD-X4 or KD-Max key tool
Keydiy ZB71 smart remote (Must write data into the KD ZB71 remote !!)
Keydiy #13 NCF29xx interface board
Original key


Kindly Note:
Update the KD device App to the latest version.
It is not a simple read and copy procedure. Some keys require removing the chip and solder onto the KD interface board to read OEM key data.

Don’t need to generate remote program before reading key data.

Procedure:
Step 1: Remove the chip from the original car key.

Disassemble the original smart key and remove the NCF29Ax chip from the OEM key.

Step 2: Solder the chip on the KD #13 NCF29xx adapter

Connect the KD #13 adapter with KD-X4 or KD-Max

Step 3: Read chip data
Go to Remote Function-Smart Key Clone-Universal Smart Key Synchronization


Synchronize the remote data and key ID of the original NCF29Ax single chip to KD ZBX and ZB7 series smart key
It can be used directly on the vehicle without programming.

If don’t have KD#13 adapter, follow the wiring diagram to solder wires to the key circuit board.

Read Chip Data
Save chip data

Remove the #13 adapter from KD-X4
Resolder the chip back to the orignal key.

Step4: Write the chip data onto the KD ZB71 remote
Connect the KD 29AX and 29A7 series smart car using 6-pin programming cable.
Connect the programming cable with KD-X4 device.

Generate dealer key
Generate dealer key successfully

Install the key shell to the KD ZB smart remote.

Don’t need to program key in car after writing KD remote
Test the KD and OEM key’s function

Keydiy KD-X4 Now Will Modify Original VAG MQB49 5C 5D Key ID !!!

Good News for everyone- the KEYDIY KD-X4 key programmre can modify the ID of original factory VAG MQB49 5C and 5D keys.
. In previous versions, the KD-X4 could only change the ID of the KD’s own 5C/5D keys. With latest update, the KD-X4 can also change the ID of original keys.

Fairly new update within the past few days.

Changing the original key ID will take 100 coins each time.


Example:

Done a VW ID.3 2021 MQB49 5D key. Changed factory key ID. Cost 100 coins to do. No SFD lock, 5D done today for ID.3 2021, changed factory key, cost 100 coins to do.

Used OEM board, second hand from ebay. Worked a treat, carefully split case, then glued together and reassembled. No one will even know. It does cost 100 coins to rewrite original board ID, but did the job.

To be fair KD FGB would be better option with the wireless remote generation. Without KD solderless adapter, you have to solder wires on the origina key.

NOTE:
Modify the ID of KD’s FGB remote does not require points.
CGDI K2 and YANHUA ACDP will also modify OEM 5C/5D key ID.

How to Add VAG MQB49 5C 5D Key with KEYDIY KD-X4 Step by Step ?

Tutorial: add VAG VW Audi MQB49/5C and 5D key using KD-x4 key programmer step by step

Tools Used:
KEYDIY KD-X4 Programmer
Original Car Key
5C 5D dedecated cable or KD circuit board to read key data.
New Key to be programmed (5C: original key or KD ZB MQB smart remote; 5D: Must use original key)

Requirement:
Update Keydiy APP version to V8.7.1 and KD-X4 firmware version 1.53 and higher.

Procedure:
Step 1: Read original key data

Select IMMO Programming-VW-5C/5D Immobilizer System-Start execution
Select Read original car key and generate a dealer key.
Check key wiring diagram

You’ve got two ways to connect the original key:

1. Use 5C 5D circuit interface board. Remove original key and install the PCB into the circuit board, then connect the circuit board with KD-X4 main unit.

2. Use wire soldering method. Connect original key with a dedicated cable or a modified cable.

Read chip data.

After a successfull read, it will generate a service code. Take a screenshot of the service code.

Step 2: Generate dealer key

Then start generate dealer key .
Put a KD ZB remote to the KD-X4 coil..
Generate KD ZB remote sucessfully

Step 3: Learn Key

Then we learn key in car.
Connect KD-X4 programmer with the vehicle via OBD
Go to IMMO Programming-VW-5C/5D Immobilizer Systems-Start execution
Select Key Learning function
Enter number of keys to be learned. All keys need to be learned.

It will ask if it is a smart key, here click Yes(Click No if it is not a smart key)
Place the original car key close to the induction coil

Open the vehicle hood

Confirm vehicle VIN

Keydiy KD-X4 will ask enter the KD service number you have obtained in Step 1.

Select the corresponding service code and confirm

Learn 1st key successfully

This indicates that the first key has been successfully learned

Then stick the second key to the induction coil.
Don’t turn off the iginition until learning is complete
Key learning completed

Turn off the iginition switch, wait 5 seconds and then turn ignition switch on.

Key learning finished. Test the remote control and proximity funtion.

Note: if you perform key learning on 2024 and 2025 models, you will need to unlock SFD gateway before learning key

How to Change MQB49 5C 5D Key ID with KEYDIY KD-X4 ?

How to change VAG MQB49 5C 5D key ID to match original system in KEYDIY KD-X4 ?This is a frequently asked questions of Keydiy MQB49 function.

Here is the clue

First of all, need to disassembel and read original key data. then generate a service code.

Keydiy will display two key IDs. Place original key into the KD-X4 induction coil, it will display key ID and check which ID between these two is the original key ID.


We can write the ID of the original factory key on the key to be matched.
After programming the dealer key, we will write this ID to it .

Note: Only keydiy remot allows modification of ID.

Select the Service code-choose FGB remote and generate dealer key.

Select Chip function-Automation detection clone.

Place the keydiy FGB remote to the KD-X4 induction coil.

Hit Start indentifying.

It will read chip type and ID. Hit Chip Editing.

Modify the ID to original key ID

Write ID successfully.

Identify remote informatio again.

Now you can see key ID has been changed.

Why change key ID if we are copying the original key data ?

It will work without changing the ID, but it is recommended to use and ID of the exsiting factory position (when customer don’t have both keys) to avoid issues when it is performed programming with odis.

To use on position(ID) where sync exists on all modules. When a car modules is reprogrammed via ODIS online, the key will work; otherwise it will stop working. And other points.

After changing key DI to march original system, then you start learnig keys in car.

Seat Arona 2020 MQB49/5C non keyless flip remote key.
Read data from working key with KD-X4 ✅️ Generated KD VW style ZB remote ✅️
Programmed to car OK ✅️
But
❌️ Remote in new key doesn’t work. I tried every software from KD for MQB49/5C. One from standard remote list and two from smart keys list.
Gonna test with original key soon.

Keydiy KD-X4 copy BMW U Chassis BCP key (with UWB function)

How to tell if the BCP key is with or without UWB function?
Disassemble the key shell, for BMW U keys with UWB functionality, the code here is CA, while for those without UWB functionality, the code here is CG.
UWB key also has a J29D5Cchip on key board.
For CG key without UWB, u can write KD FGB57 remote.
For CA key with UWB, u can write original key only.
KD App will add this function in a day or two.
